The Phelchey Toenkhyim Museum aims to exhibit the true Bhutanese rural lifestyle through original artefacts and demonistrations of rural customs and traditions, the habits our ancestors had and the skills they possesed.

It is an education on rural life through proper documentation from thorough research.

In order to present an authentic Bhutanese rural setting one can find a traditional watermill with millstones that date back more than 150 years, kitchen garden with vegetables that were grown and consumed by the people and a hot stone water bath.

However the principal exhibit is the museum building itself which is a restored three-story traditional rammed mud and timber house. The design and form of the house has been maintained and is an average household from the Wang area during the mid 19th century. The age of the structure demonstrates the the skills of the people, and hosehold objects like equipments and tools that the family used are on display.

Every visit is a unique experience because the activities of the museum follow seasonal changes and influence.
